Sorcha is an artist based in West Cork, and her practice explores themes of technology, representation and iconography through performance, film, and sculpture. She is interested in looking at how gestures and meaning have been built up over time through painting and other media, and then reconfiguring some of the familiar symbols in order to create layered narratives. Her work aims at opening conversations and interrogating the interconnectedness of symbols and meaning in a hyper-connected, digital world. Her recent film installation, Eden. was shown at the RHA in Dublin (Nov–Jan 2024/25). She was awarded the RDS Taylor Award (2024), Graphic Studio Dublin Emerging Visiting Artist Award (2024), OpenEar Graduate Award (2024), and the National Sculpture Factory/BAVA Sherkin Graduate Residency Award (2024) through the display of this work. She is currently in residence at the National Sculpture Factory and has an upcoming exhibition at the Laneway Gallery, Cork as part of the inaugural Cork Fringe Festival (May 9th-11th, 2025).
